Leslie Whitesell began her dance training in classical ballet and graduated from the high school ballet program at the North Carolina School for the Arts. After graduating, she moved to New York City where she studied at the Joffrey Ballet and Steps on Broadway. While in New York, Leslie developed an interest in ballroom dancing and began training in Ballroom and Latin Dancing. She also studied Argentine Tango both in New York and Buenos Aires.
Leslie has competed extensively in many prestigious competitions and holds such titles as 2010 United States Dance Championship Pro-Am Open Cabaret Champion and Ohio Star Ball Pro-Am World Theatrical Champion. Her tremendous knowledge of technique and presentation is a result of her considerable training and many performances.
Leslie is currently training to compete professionally in the American Smooth style. Devotion to her craft and a great sense of humor make her an instructor beloved by both students and staff.
Leslie believes that dance is for everyone and has a unique way of challenging oneself on all levels: mental, physical and spiritual. At any level of study, dance opens up a world where a person can express themselves as well as learn a craft and skills that allow for expression of self through music and movement. It also provides a means of having an extraordinary amount of fun while doing and learning!
